Don't think that was Nintendo,because
1-they don't really care about fangames as long as you don't profit off them,or "steal" everything
2-he decided to quit because he had a life ahead of him
3- if this was true,then MFGG,MKFusion,SMF:R,& about every other fan element will be terminated.
He didn't make money from the game itself,but from seperate ads instead.But we could ask both,I'll contact Nintendo to see if they really were behind this. :S

The reason smbx and supermariobrothers.org was shut down was because redigit illegally made money.

Using advertisements, he could make money off of the attention his site had. Using smbx and the flash games on his website, he could attract people to his website. Mario and other characters in his series are copyrighted by Nintendo, so it's illegal to make money using him as bait.

This is also why the other sites haven't been shut down. They don't profit over the attention they receive, so they aren't as illegal.
