Duck Hunt update

Hello everyone, here is an update of what is going on with my Duck Hunt, the main purpose of this is that, if I'm doing something wrong, Please tell me.

Recently I have been giving her exp by me fighting her. basically I give myself explosive perfect shield and play the waiting game and shield when she attacks, dodges grabs, etc., and I do it with certain characters so that she gets exp (or thats what I think) for those characters that I don't have the amiibo to.
She has shown some improvement, but not a whole lot.
