Badge Issue
9/3/2014, 7:38 pm
Alright so, Cloud and I are having an issue with badges. He thinks every member should be able to get every badge because that's fair. I think we should have some badges that are no longer obtainable and are exclusive now.
My point is: If everyone can get every badge, doesn't that make them not as special? I think having some for staying with us through problems and failures is a good idea, and shows members we care that they've stayed with us. I want their to be many badges that ALL members could potentially get. (CFA Badge, Post Count Badge, Tournament Winner Badge, Hidden Code Badge, etc.) But I also think it's good to have special veteran badges for loyal members, and limited edition badges like Shaq and [Whoops, Spoilers].
So, Vote above and post why you made your choice.
Edit: Poll ends in three days.

The way you're looking at it isn't exactly the way Cloud and I see it. It's not just "everyone can get it," it's "everyone can get it if they try." Take the old Bleeding Fingers badge, you had to make a heck ton of posts to get it! That, or you merged two badges into it and had to regain those two badges after.
Life isn't fair, but that doesn't have to translate to this forum. If the badge system is fair, then people won't find it annoying that there's something they can't get because the badges are set up unfairly.
Besides, I dislike the fact that you'd implement badges that new members automatically know that they can never get it. I find that wrong on a whole other level.
I vote no.

Oh I see it now. You and Cloud value NEW Members over Loyal ones? Ah, Okay. Sorry thenADventuresVDO wrote:The way you're looking at it isn't exactly the way Cloud and I see it. I agree with FCN; I think it's fine to have a few badges some people will never get. I honestly don't see it being discouraging to new members, because they don't give you anything amazing (that I know of). They're just badges.
I vote yes.

WRONG, you're legs must be tired from "jumping to conclusions," FCN.
You don't get my point at all. The point is that badges are there to be collectible. So what's the point in collectibles you can't collect? Can't you find another way to say thank you to those who were here longer? Like, say, a special rank they can use if they want. That's not made to be a collectible since you can only have one rank at a time, so it wouldn't interfere with collecting badges but still tell the veterans "Hey, thanks for staying for so long, have a special rank!"

What about limited addition ones, Like Shaq? I'm removing the rank so members can put a CFA character for their rank instead. But some members would like to still keep their "Shaqness" Also, What about one time contests? Shouldn't that have a special badge?ADventuresVDO wrote:WRONG, you're legs must be tired from "jumping to conclusions," FCN.

As I said about the ranks, they can't be considered collectible because you can only own one at a time. One time contests, I feel that the reward for winning the contest should be reward enough.
As for the moderator ones, I have no real complaints, but personally I'd just take the name color and the rank and GO! And collect $500 dollars, while I'm at it.

I agree with this guy. But, um, I don't like the user submitted badge thing. Someone could just make something stupid like a poo emoticon or something dum if they could pay for it?
