Can you kill bowser (SMB 3) with fireballs or thrown objects?

Can you kill Bowser (SMB 3) with fireballs / iceballs or thrown objects? I've thrown billions of fireballs at bowser, they don't do nothing! Is there anyway to check how many hits it takes to kill bowser? (SMB 3)

Every item and object *Hammer Suit too* - 20 Hits
Fireballs - 100 hits
IceBalls - This doesnt affect bowser
