How to make non-moving npcs move?

How do you make non-moving NPCs move with Events and Layer Movement? I want to make my Mini Mushroom move.

No... I said how with layers and events.

at the left side you see the layer movement select the layer in the drop down box and then type in the speeds if you want the npc to start moving the other direction make the movement timed to trigger another event and make that event go the other way positive numbers are right/up negative is left/down
