I'm not sure if there is a thread for this already...

...anyways, I was pretty hyped to see some of trailers/videos posted on the PlayStation YouTube channel regarding GTAV. The game looks even more amazing, plus, first-person shooting ability? Really awesome. It got me thinking, these next generation console games are getting better and better.

What are your thoughts guys? on nex-gen consoles? games?

Don't care about them. Don't have to buy a new pc to play next-gen games.

I hear what you're sayin about gtav on ps4, looks like it's gonna be pretty awesome.

Also Metal Gear Solid V looks even better, it's quite amazing how real some of the next gen games look.

As a side note, not everyone has a good enough pc to play next gen games, myself for example, then again I don't personally have a next gen console either, I can't afford it, but my older brother has a ps4 and the games for it are extremely good, the ones I've seen are unmatched in tefms of graphics, and there gameplay is as good or better than recent previous consoles.

I think the term "next-gen" should have been dropped last year when the current gen was released. As for GTAV while yes it looks like some improvements were made I'd:
1) Rather see it on PC.
2) Have that development team help work on another title like maybe whatever they will be calling RDR2.

I don't believe in remastering games a year after they just came out. GTAV should have remained the swan song of last gen.

GTAV "remaster" is no where near what these consoles can on paper handle, Killzone Shadowfall is a much better example of what the PS4 can do as it to me felt like a tech demo throughout.

If you haven't got a PS4 or XB1 yet now is the time though in my opinion, games like Unity, Far Cry 4, Master Chief Collection, Forza 5, Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare etc. make it now finally a very worthwhile investment. Next year then we have Uncharted 4, No Man's Sky, Project Cars, Halo 5, The Division, Rainbow Six Siege, Battlefront 3 and way more I can't remember right now.

Yes obviously some of these games will be better on PC, Project Cars and Far Cry 4 probably the two that stand out most out of the upcoming games. While I have a PC capable of running these games at high end settings (I have a GTX 970) I still enjoy the ability to just plug in and play on consoles. There is no nonsense of steam, uPlay or Origin, console gaming is much more straight forward and the level specs mean no performance advantages (F1 2013 allowed people with more FPS on PC to go quicker every lap).

The major problem currently with the current gen is the firmware is still not mature enough, the 2.0 update for PS4 meant consoles on stand-by needed hard resets to wake up again, XB1 has also had bugs in firmware. Having bought the PS4 on release day I can definitely say though firmware has greatly improved since release and the console runs more more smoothly.

I agree with the specs but I don't have the money to purchase a new system and every freakin $60 game I want. (lol who uses steam, origin, or uplay? I don't)

60 dollars is nothing, we pay nearly 100 dollars (80 euro here) in Ireland for some of the new games that have been released on ps4/xb1. We paid about 30 dollars less than that for games released during the last gen.

Microsoft are already talking about a cheaper Xbox One so hopefully Sony follow with that with the ps4. Hopefully by next year the consoles will be cheaper but at 400 euro the ps4 is well worth the price now that a decent amount of games are available for it. Of course get the Xbox one though if you prefer their exclusives.

I would love an Xbox one now though for halo and Forza alone.

I've never really been a fan of next-gen consoles like Xbox and PS4. The reason I always go with Nintendo is because those two consoles seem to have everything in common. Same games, same hype behind them. What's the difference? Wii U and 3DS are the only consoles that you can play Mario, for example, so...

Yes there similar but PS3 has much better exclusive games like Uncharted.

I just grew up with Pokemon and Mario, and I don't really wanna leave that behind. There's just too much of a stark difference between Nintendo and next-gen consoles that I can't get over. I guess you could say I like to stay with the series more than the games.
