New Super Mario Bros. V (NEW SCREENS)

Many, many years ago...a lone, weak Koopa traveled through ruins of an ancient city. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a shine. The Koopa walked to the source of the shine and found a crown. The Koopa, curious of what its use was, put the crown on its head. Suddenly, the Koopa felt a surge of power run through him. His head formed into a strange shape. His shell grew huge and spikes grew from it. His tail grew large and gained spikes on it. King Bowser was born.

...Years later, after King Wart's defeat, he realized the power of the mask. He set his army off to Bowser's Castle to obtain the mask for himself. However, Wart did not go with him. He set out on his own to find anything that could help him. ...After days of searching, he found nothing. He sat down on his throne and looked up when he heard a creaking noise. A Shy Guy came through the door. "S-sir...mission f-failed..." The Shy Guy fell down, dead. Wart was crushed - if he wanted that crown, he'd have to earn it.

Meanwhile, Mario was busy infiltrating Bowser's Castle. His mission was to find and destroy the Crown the two villains wanted. Mario was successful - the crown was split into eight parts. The crown's pieces drifted away, but one stayed put. These crown pieces powered-up eight different bosses - bosses that Mario will have to defeat.
